ICE Celebrate Helium Conservation Day

Quantum Design has designated 10th July as Helium Conservation Day, helping to raise awareness of the importance of this finite and valuable resource.

The date marks the anniversary of groundbreaking work by Heike Kamerlingh Onnes at Leiden University, who first liquefied helium on 10th July 1908. This achievement laid the foundation for modern low-temperature physics and cryogenic research.

Liquid helium remains a scarce, non-renewable resource. Once released into the atmosphere, it cannot be recovered, making conservation efforts increasingly important for the scientific community.

ICE is proud to support helium conservation initiatives. Our DRY ICE series of cryostats is designed to reach ultra-low temperatures without the need for liquid cryogens, helping to reduce reliance on helium while maintaining high performance for advanced research applications.
