ICE Win Prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise

ICE are proud to annouce they are winners of The Queen's Award for Enterprise 2020 in the Innovation Category.

ICEoxford are designers and manufacturers of custom designed, high performance cryogenic systems for scientific research communities and industry throughout the world. One of their most rapidly developing markets is photonic quantum computing research where a combination of ultra-low temperatures and high cooling power are necessary.

It was this research that sparked the development of the DRY ICE 1.0K. This high cooling power platform can reach temperatures as low as 0.8K (equivalent to -272.2°C) whilst achieving greater than 250mW of power in the sample area, five times higher than previous technologies.

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious awards for UK businesses of any size and throughout every sector. The Awards are a great way of celebrating a business’s success by recognising and encouraging them in the fields of innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity.

‘ICE are incredibly honoured to receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation Category for the development of our 1.0K High Cooling Power Platform. Our founding desire was to shake up the dry cryogenics market and we believe this technology is set to be a key player in the quantum computing revolution over the coming decades.

We have just completed our best year in ICE history because we have an amazing team. Achieving this award is testament to the hard work our current/past employees, suppliers and customers have put in over the last 15 years.’ -  Chris Busby, Managing Director.

ICE are incredibly proud of their West Oxfordshire location and try to hire within the local area as much as possible. Previous Queen’s Award winners have reported a direct increase in company growth. This award will boost the profile and reputation of ICEoxford, enabling them to create an even greater positive impact on low temperature physics research including the quantum computing revolution; as well as providing opportunities to hire a larger workforce from within their local community.
